Nepali students were also rising in an organized manner against the Panchayat autocracy. This was intolerable to the rulers, therefore, they were suppressing the students too. In Janakpur, students organized a protest rally in Janakpur on August 24, 1972. The students were arrested after 22 days of the rally. The students protests helped release some of the students from the police custody. The following day, there was another protest rally. Additional police force was brought to suppress the struggle. The police opened fire on the mass. Kameswor Mandal, Kuseswor Mandal and Konni Goit died on the spot. A total of 117, including 42 students, were injured in the incidence.
