The new book called ‘Madheshi Uprising: The resurgence of ethnicity’ by Mr Kalyan B. Mathema (2011) is a powerful document on the history of Mithila. A must for every Madheshi historian and political analyst. It links Mithila history with central Madhesh rebellion. I recommend it.

Guys please understand & keep in mind who is Madheshi first, If you are living in Madhesh then you are madheshi whether your ancester are from India, UK, USA, Jumla or China, the Madheshi is the people who lived in Madhesh when boundry of Indo-Nepal was established.

There are several caste and practices different religion and Madheshi is not the caste but they have similar blood as so called pahadi and same feeling for our Nepal.

So STOP discrimination based on Pahadi or Madeshi., Let’s work on nation building…

by the Tharu is also Madheshi if they are living in the area which is catagorized as Madhesh, I am wondering why this issue is so important for Tharu and why Politician keeps quite, Tharu is caste but Madheshi is not caste …..

Is there anything really like Madheshi? Isn’t it just a term for non-mongolian people from the planes. Sure we can get into a discussion of the are area covered by Madhya-desh but it doesn’t really help. Even Marwadis are extended the “distinction” of being Madheshi. Or for that matter Maithils can argue they are Maithil not madheshi.
A genuine question: I really want to know… I don’t have any Tharu friends otherwise I would have asked them… Why do Tharus not like being called Madheshi?
