    Dear sir,
If only the handful of people whose names and photos are posted on this site come from our community then of course we deserve suppresion. If you are yourself narrow minded how can you expect
right from others. I am telling this because many diginatories names
of the community are missing here. I cannot even find the martyrs
from Yadukoha in 2046. Why only few doctors name , when there are hundreds. Either remove the names or try to ensure no big name is missing. Even in this house there are more than 20 MPs from our
community. Why don’t you post their name if you are not biased.

  • 2. saroj yadav  |  September 24, 2006 at 6:41 am

    Respected sir,
personalities page was really the best. About madheshi media movement in Nepal I think Rajesh Ahiraj , permendra bhagat, manoj mukti, gopal jha are really missed in your page. Are you visite ( http://www.marg.org.np, http://www.madheshvani.com, http://www.madheshee.blogspot.com) If yes , than how you ignore about this personalities.

  • 3. Manoj  |  September 25, 2006 at 5:03 am

    Hi Saroj,
I agree with you that the names posted deserved to be posted.
You have suggested 4 new names as these are missing.
In fact there are so many still missing. The best way to be unbiased
is to either post the names of all big pesonalities or let it be empty.
Otherwise one can raise finger about being biased within our own
community when we are fighting for unbiasesness from other.

You can suggest the name that you like to be listed on the page. Please send the name, which will statisfy following criteries

    1. Individual acheivement is very distinct in world map.
    2. Individual acheivement is very distinct in madhesi community.
    3. Must have made madhesi proud in distinct occassions.
    4. Has contributed in the strengthening in madhesi community.
    5. Has worked for social , political upliftment of madhesi.

    Thanks

I think ONLY Rajesh Ahiraj, Parmendra Bhagat and Manoj Mukti should be on this page!!

That’s the problem with Madheshi, they won’t acknowledge other’s position and act as if they were the ONLY ONE doing something, they are the people at the TOP and none others. And this happens to even very matured personalities as well. When CK Lal would comment something, he would act as none exist in Madhesh capable of thinking. When Dhirendra Premarshi would talk, he act as if he is the only person doing for Madhesh (and Maithils). WHen you approach Haribansh Jha and others, they would appear inapprochable, filled with pride and sense that they are ONLY achievers.

So no wonder Rajesh Ahiraj and Paramendra Bhagat would do same. Put a big photo of himself nearby GN Singh listing themselves in list of top 10 madheshi, write their name in big bold letters everywhere, and post own praise on the sites and self-advertise.

So I don’t blame much on them. May be nasty Madheshi genes!

Bas mai hun, bas mai hun, dusara koi nahi.

Although this photogallary is fine. We need to modify in designing and catagories according to the fields and profession and cast. Also provide some searching mechanism according to all these criteria which helps to all and everybody enjoy with this.
In this perticular section gives the facility to send the photoes and their background and it should be veryfiy by the administrator of this site then only display in different catagory.

    Thanks,

This post is ridiculous. Just by naming a few people you know and ignoring a large group of professionals, entrepreneurs, politicians, musicians shows your disrespect (or ignorance) of the madhesi issue. And the central issue you are trying to show here is madhesis are underrepresented in every walk of life in Nepal. A bitter fact very poorely presented. You could have been more original. Pathetic, indeed.

    Dear sir,
It’s really appreciative that some united organization have comeup for the right and identification of Madheshi poeple. But what i can find is even highly educated people are still stucked in Castism. So very first thing that we need to do is to merge as a single Madhesee. I don’t think we can get the appropriate right unless we raise the weapon like Tarai Jantrik Morcha and Madhesi Mukti Morcha. But these stupid are fighing with each other, can somebody send my message to both of these Madhesee heroes. I’ll always be there to come front if i’m needed.

The above photographs reflects the intellectual bankrupcy about the Madeshi. I don’t think that Madeshi community have only 19 intellectual personalities. This shows the biased configuration or the shamefull image of the one who created this site and even on the Madheshi.
This is not the current situation. Tons and tons of Madeshis have contributed for the nation building who are missing. Therefore, either add them or delete all the 19 present there because this gives a shameful image of madeshis. I, muself know the number of Journalists, Academician, …who have done a lot for the upliftment of Madeshis.
This is just to positive criticism. Please take it positively for improvement.

Please remove all names and photos, and just put a big photo of yours and write your name in BIG BOLD letters!

  • 17. Sambhu Sah/Avishek  |  January 15, 2007 at 3:43 pm

I also support Mr. Jaiswal, and there must be some other names who have contributed their life for the right of Madhesi like Durga nanda Jha and Dr. Thakur (Killed by former king birendra) of Debdiha, Dhanusha.

we are madhesi, but it means not that we are not ignorent, illiterate. There are lots of madhesi people who passed their graduate and master degree in lots of field securing good marks. but they cannot getting the job as compared to those of pahadi in any government job. So JTMM should make at least 33% fixed seat in any government vacancy in this situation of nepal where new constitution is being changed.

We madhesi in all aspects are more capable . Our sacrifice is treated by country as timidness. This is time to show we are not timid but its our greateness till now to make country united. But always drum can not be played with one hand. Limit has crossed. Now its time for all we madhesi to show we are equally bold and brave to get back our right.

We must feel proud of being a Madheshi and should say this word loudly everywhere without any fear because it means alot for our unity in this difficult situation. I request all of us to respect our native languages. We have to put our efforts to develop our own MAITHILI, BHOJPURI,ABDHI and other local as well as HINDI and ENGLISH as international languages.. Being a medical practitioner I would like to request our colleagues to talk with their patients in their native languages. This practice help us to develop a novel and humanity based doctor-patient relationship. A good doctor can learn any language if it is in the benifit of his patient because we have learned the art of Medical practice.

Hi I am against you all putting your picture or not doesn’t mean anything .
We need to united that all what I and we should be concern about,, this is what happen in madesh they want there name and picture and fame before anything happen … If you can do anything contribute your part in this movement you future will remember your son , your dought can take a free air of terai and let them feel proud to say I am from madesh …so I suggest don’t be so narrow minded guys ,, think for better future and work together .We are not to post picture or name here ……….We are making change for years of discrimination and can be done only by getting united.

What are you whingeing about? If there are so many well known and succesfful madheses in Nepal, obviously the system/culture was not so bad to them. Name as many recognised jirel, kaami, damai, ghartis etc as well. The problem is lack of education in these communities and lack of opportunities as a result of incomptent goverments in the past and present. I recognise the need to uplift and give equal opportunities or even special/reserved opportunities to those who are sufferring. Don’t make it sound like only you guys suffered and act in such a way to hamper peace process. Within Madheses few are taking advantage of all madeses for their political and financial benefits. Same thing has been happenning in other ethnic groups of Nepal. Few educated and shrewd ones are all corrupted in mind and soul. They give impression that they are fighting for everyone while in fact they are fighting for only their petty achievement.

I think the list should be developed as per tangible indicators rather then complex or ideal indicator! You could put some specific format in rationale way. Please check the HSMP UK formula or any Australians, Canadian migration formula or DV lottery assessment formula for reference that would help you to develop the rational indicators as per motto and goal for your list.
Please think once on my proposal.
    Thank you.

  • 55. uncle sam  |  January 14, 2008 at 5:36 am

Just an example. Look at the attached links. First let’s go to the personalities page.

Girija Prasad Koirala in his memoir, currently with Nepal Weekly, recalls that his schooling began from Biratnagar. The old guys remembers about his home were all awesome jungles when he was a child; there were almost no settlements. The guy is now nearly 90. He could have been saying this when he was 10 years of age or so.

Let’s talk about Udit Narayan Jha in the link. He guy should be roughly 50, nearly half of Koirala’s age. But Udit is considered the personality of Terai; whereas Girija is not. Girija spent whole of his life for the better of Nepal and Nepalese people; whereas Udid often claimed not to be of Nepal. Upendra Yadav, who killed innocent people in Rautahat, is considered as one of the prominent personalities, but Bijay Gachhedar is not in the list. The link also discusses about Ram and Sita or Mithila, but it doesn’t say anything about Buddha and Lumbini. Is it because that the Buddha was an indeginous? If the Terai perception evolves in a way, future consequence of the move is sure to be adverse. The link reflects the Terai perspective how they look at the people of the other backgrounds.

    Strange But True !!! Read it….Analyze it….

Finally, major politicians belonging to Madhesh have United for the cause of Madhesh . We all madheshi must now support these the new front “UMDF” . Everyone should come forward in support of this Front forgetting old enmities.
We have always blamed major Politicians for not fighting for madhesh issue strongly but the fact is that even madhesi people are not so loyal enough to support these people as we have seen in case of Sadbhawana Party. Even we have fine examples like Bimlendra Nidhi and Dr Ram baran Yadav who are against the madhesi movement for their personal benefits as they are the qualified madhesi in N. Congess (sure to be a minister in next cabinet) .
Mahanth Thakur and Rajendra Mahato are somewhat personality of Madhesh and they are strong enough to struggle as we have seen in the past. Their image is better than any other leader here. If you analyze the past, we have seen Rajendra Mahato speaking critically against Pahadi rule throughout his term for which he has faced many charges from Pahadi Regime. Thankur has now done his job by showing off congress that they have betrayed Madhesh.
Its a fact that now every single Madhesi can dream of a better future and hope to feel the Nepali pride. The agreement between the Govt. and UMDF may take time but at last it will be fruitful.
At last, all those people who still are having doubts and negative feelings over our Madhesi leaders an their agreements should trust them for once and support them. We are always the one who usually play politics within our mind and try to conclude many things even when things are simple and straight, creating negative thinking that they those people can’t do. But the time has come since they are trying to fight for us, so we should give our support for a UNITED MADHESH.

    JAY MADHESH

Pls delete the name of Bimlendra Nidhi from our politicians list. He doesnot deserve to be in our politicians list. He never thinks for the betterness of Madhesh and Madhesi. He is the person who is always against our demand “Ek Madhesh-Ek Pradesh”.

Analyzing nepali culture the mistake is that you believe what you know to be untrue, leaders are just not important at all these are times of equality, therefore it is irrellevant who is best after the elections.
Internal issues best be done internally candidates parties that is a parliamentary issue, it is embarrasing that even a new country makes continuous drama of normal life.

  • 66. nepali  |  August 1, 2008 at 3:48 pm

most of the leaders like upendra yadav, rajendra mahato, are the true servants of indian establishment and r doing what their masters are dictating…even i found most of the commenters from india or indian immigrants to NEpal who r hell bent in discentrigrating our Beautiful country. Whaere is Madhesh …then what r Madhesis …If u want to know the answer then just go to india …We Nwpalses people know only terai…we know nepalese people living in terai…Tharus, rajbanshi, Maithali, Bhojpuri,, musar….and so on they r the people of terai(plains) not Madhseis…

Ek madhesh ek pradesh is a grand design of india in desentrigating our country and compelling the diverse and rich culture of out terainans to change into bihari culture….

Hindi language is a national language of india…Nepali is the national language of Nepal…So how come the people of tERAI speak hindi..I know they speak their mother language like maithali..bhoj puri….and so on..
Haandful of indian immigrants who speak hindi language r rying to establish hindi language as one of the national language.. shame on u betrayers of our motherland….

even if u see india…people from jammu kasmir, kumaon, asam, karnatak …etc were compelled to speak hindi …officaial language in bihar utterkhand etc..similarly indain agents want to unite our terai and our whole country to india though the means of hindi language…

i am seeing the time in the near future when all people from terai will know this very fact and the root and branches of indian establishment will come to a real end uniting all people from hill, terai and mountain….uniting all people bahuns ,magars, taharus, maithalis, bhojpuris and so on.

Nowhere is it mentioned that he is from Nepal?
    Could you pls clarify??
Let us not include the non-Nepalese just for the name sake please.

There are photos of people posted above who have exploited
Madhesi in the name of Madhesi.
The personality posted should be respectable ones and should
be role model for a Madhesi. But how can a thug, a looter
whom I hate can be my ROLE MODEL.

We can win the battle for our right in a peaceful way. Because of
some armed groups Terai has become worse place for even a
Madhesi leave alone the case for a Pahade. We should live in harmony. The situation in Terai now is such that if you are not
linked with any armed group then you can’t survive there. Thsi is so sad. Not a single Madhesi is against Madhesi right but we are facing threat from our own armed groups. Strange !!!

Like collect names of madhesi from TU campuses, names of madhesi doctors from hospitals, Government ranked officers list, politicians from journal & different advocates from Bar Association list etc.. Collecting names of madhesis from different sectors is difficult but but impossible.

Actually its the mistake of people who never protest against girija who spoke on Hindi in the press confrence – As a chief of the country-,after the successful talk between madeshis parties .. Why dont people protest against 12-point agreement which was drafted in hindi.??/…. So, I found people of nepal as a puppet of political parties,,, Actually if nepali have nationalism in them then they should have Firstly Protest against 12-point agreement and Girija Pd. Koirala and more over to the savasads. So I want answer from all the people who just actively take part in the protest against Jha and who never thougt anything .. when girija spoke Hindi during press meet.

    VP’S oath
The order signed by five justices,of supreme court Top Bahadur Magar, Ram Kumar Prasad Sah, Kalyan Shrestha, Prem Sharma and Bharat Raj Upreti was embarrassing. The apex court order was an insult of the Hindi-speaking communities living in Nepal. This decision may increased the rift between the people living in the Hills and Tarai. But Article 36 (I) Clause 2 Sub-clause ix and Appendix 1 of Nepal’s constitution states that President and Vice President should take oath in Nepali before assuming their position so the position like Vice President must respect the constitution, existing law and the verdict delivered by the court.”so it was mandatory for him to retake oath to continue with official duties and responsibilities as Vice President. Language is just the means of communication so there should be the amendment of the interim constitution to ensure that a person holding a constitutional position could take the oath of office and secrecy in a language of his/her choice. So hope this rift will be settled by our vp permanand jha.

I have always wondered why we madhesis are striving for everything. Why education is still unapproachable to us?
Why our politicians do not represent us? Why are we still below the line of poverty and illiteracy?
I got answer of my question going carefully through this page. We madhesis are good fighters and we fight better against madhesis.

I went through all 79 comments mentioned above and found most of the people here are fighting for the name. Nobody thinks about how to proceed further and enlight madhesh and madhesis. Everybody is busy defaming one and another.

i am veryy sad because in the name of madeshi , the madeshi political parties are not able to fullfill th demand of the madeshi then why they are not ready to losse their position. the youth of the madesh will fullfill the demand of the madeshi. so the madeshi youth unite together for the revolution against the leader who is not favour of madesh among the madeishi leader. the most of the madeshi leader in the name of the madeshi people they are full fill their own choice that is wrong

this is the time to unite all the madeshi for their common purpose otherwise our situation will again like the previous once. So, don’t do that kinds of activities my madeshi friends which distinguish the Madeshi among the Madesh. I humbly request to the leader of the Madesh who are going quite far from our desinity. We people have faced many problem during this political regime so we donot want to again re back that situation . DO THAT THINGS WHICH REALLY WANTS THE MADESHI PEOPLE. I am a law students so i really support the good ativites of the madeshi people but also hates the one who talkes the anti of the madeshi once.

    Contribution Of Madhesi.
Ram nath and Raghu Nath jha

The world first codified law is Manab Nya sastra (The science or Knowledge of Human Justice) But due of time remaining in isolation for a long time we cannot spread these all over the world. Now it is said Magnacarta and Bill of Right are the first codified law, But if we go through deep study we find these things.

Lok pati jha and Lesh pati jha

Lokpati jha and Lesh pati jha are the milestone of the Nepalese Legal system. they are the drafter of 1910 Muluki Ain whose some of the parts are still prevail in present Muluki Ain.But why these things are not maintained in our History.

    Dev Nath prasas verma
The first licence no 1 Advocat of Nepal Dev Nath prasad Verma also belongs from Madhesi community.so Khas Pahadiya dont try to ignore the contribution of madhesi people from History.

    Kulanand jha

Kulanand Jha is one of the personality of Terai during Shah rule. He seems to have a lot of influence in Power. Towards the end of his life, all his property was confisicated by Nepal rulers, including his house to live.
    ———————————–
Kulananda Jha A district-level administrative system emerged only after the beginning of Rana rule. During the first part of the nineteeth century, such essential functions in areas other than Kathmandu Valley as defense against external aggression, the maintenance of law and order, and the collection of revenue were the responsibility of military authorities in far-eastern and far-western Nepal. In the hill areas concern; while the other functions mentioned above were discharged by landlords (birtaowner, jagirdars) and ijaradars of various categories.

In the eastern Tarai, civil administration and revenue collection were both usually assigned to revenue farmers or ijaradars. Ijaradars were not salaried officials of the government; their income consisted between what they had stipulated for payment to the government and what they actually collected from the peasantry. The ijara system, at the same time, did not mean a continual bidding for higher payments. There is evidence to believe that at times ijaradars were also appointed in consideration of their capability, experiences and intergrity. Consequently, an individual who possessed these qualities often discharged revenue functions under the ijara system for long periods of time without any break, albeit not in the same field.

Kulananda Jha appears to have been one of such individuals. On available evidence, his career as an ijaradar stretched over to at least 25 years, from the beginning of the Nepal-British war in A.D. 1814 to the end of Bhimsen Thapa’ Prime Ministership in A.D. 1837. Even thereafter, he was granted an ijara for the collection of revenue on jagir lands of Bhimsen Thapa in the eastern Tarai districts, which the government had resumed after Bhimsen Thapa’s death.

Kulananda Jha probably belonged to the small community of Maithili Brahmans in Kathmandu. Another member of this community, Hiralal Jha, also appears to have followed a similar career as an ijaradar. His career will form the subject-matter of another article.

The information tabulated below is admittedly incomplete. There is a gap between Vikrama 1881 and 1883, but one does not now whether it was in Kulananda Jha’s career as an ijaradar or in the documentation.
But why these thing are not maintained in Nepalese Syallabus. The Khas pahadiyaa are to hide our contribution. They just want to prove themselves as brave.

Everyone knows that constitution writing cannot be accomplished without the support of the Madhesh ans Madhesi youth. Despite knowing this, the ruling parties are trying to push the madhesh into a corner, which means that the government and the ruling parties do not want the constitution and peace in the country.
If the present attitude of the khas Pahadi political parties remains unchanged, the constitution may not be written within the extended time as well. Thus, it is high time to act seriously and sincerely. Although time is running short, damage can still be controlled if the parties act sensibly on the issue of Autonomous Madhesh.

    Split
As per the clause 5 (2) of the Anti-Defection Act nine lawmakers of Terai Madhesh democratice party led by Minister for Industry Mahendra Prasad Yadav announcing a new outfit Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party-Nepal. As per the Parliament Act of the Legislature Parliament, there should be at least 40 per cent of the total lawmakers of any party to establish a new faction splitting from the mother party. Only some days before the Madhesi people’s Right forum (Democratic) has suffered a split, with a faction of party leaders led by sanjay shah. These Factions among them is already a clear sign of their Failure.I mean to say there are a lot of leaders to be called themselves in Madhesh but It’s pity for Madheshi people that there is no any single person to lead on behalf of them on national level. They spilit their party for money, position and post. Now spilitization become the prominent character of Madhesh based party.i would like to ask one question to Madhesed based leaders if they had no differences regarding the issue of Madhesh then why they time and again they spilit. This shows that they split the party to secure a better position in the next government.

    Sunil jee,

How do you call Prashant Tamang a Nepali? Why did people from Nepal collect money to send sms and to support him for Indian Idol Contest? By You I mean majority of pahadi people in Nepal.

Udit Narayan Jha is a madheshi, because he was born in Madhesh, he worked in Madhesh. So why do you feel bad Udit being called Madhesi? Prashant Tamang was neither born in Nepal nor worked in Nepal. You can be proud of him but not of Udit?

    Reality Bites

    – Madesi people are never been accepted easily as a Neplai Citizen by Pahadi people and this syndrome will continue for few more decade in future,
    – It is only the ‘ Great Madesh Movement’ that led Pahari to acknowledge the voice of Madesi in their arena. But it is too narrow and limited. Psychic behind is terrible.
    – All individual Madesi has such a characteristic that they hardly unite themselves for their infinite benefits and divide easily for their self benefit,
    – Money is what Madesi loves more than their honesty, identity and dignity.

After 14 Jestha, who will lose what?
The biggest contribution of Nepalese people in the Nepal is satnding and throughing the Monarchy for the establishment of democracy and rule of law in the country.Does our motive are respecting through the Nation leader. If the Constitution didnot draft within the stipulated time, the big loss will be for Madheshi.Madeshi people shall do again revolution for their demands. we are lossing our hope from the Madshi leader. They are behaving as a Khas people. WHY? If you can’t analyse the situation of Madesh after 14,leave the tag of leader from your name.

  • 96. Athiest vijay  |  May 18, 2011 at 10:43 am

    why division among parties?
purpose serves the rationality of division. one issues, one platform, one agenda but different parties, why? politics arenot for the sake of getting money, power, post and visit to foreign countries. it is for the nation building ways. If your family is divided into two parts, there is maximum possibility of dominance of third people in the family. Now adays Madshi parties are splitting ownself into several parties, they are agin wanting to become the colony of Certain people.Divide and ruling is the key point for the Khas politician. Madshi parties are beocming week and week day by days, any time stronger can attack on the Madshi politics.Be ware from that possiiblity. So,tries to find the rationality for spilliting.

The concerns and analysis of and by Vijay pd. Jaiswl, studying in LLB 2nd year are very remarkable. The frequent division of Madheshi parties including the Forum Nepal has only the purpose to get opportunities to become Ministers. Madheshi leaders have all sold their soul, vigour, honesty, enthusiasm and morality for the above mentioned opportunity selling slogans, feelings and demands of Madhesh Movements. It’s a great surprise that the KhASH parties with different isms have a single purpose to alliance against Madhesh to be an autonomous state, but Madheshi Parties having the single purpose, whim, agenda and issue have got divided into several meaningless parties, and are still on the way to be divided into sub-parties having sense of enemity to each other. Madheshi people are sure to discard these fake and useless parties in the days to come as they have understood their dramas.
