Re: Support of the Government of India for

“Human Rights of Indigenous Madheshi in Nepal”

I am a Nepalese citizen belonging to Madheshi community, and presently serving as International United Nations Volunteer in Trinidad and Tobago.

Unrest in Nepal is world known. With reference to above subject, Madheshi population has been treated as second class citizens or colonized people by the state. The State’s practices have had has compelled them to suffer economically, politically and socially. The state has violated following articles of human rights “Convention (No. 189) concerning indigenous people in independent countries”: Articles 2.1, 22(c), 3.1, 4.3, 6(b), 6 (c), 7.1, 14.2, 16.1, 17.3, 18, 20.2, 26, 28.1, 28.3, 31, and 32.

Now, Madheshi people are demanding their human rights. A revolutionary group called “Tarai Janatantrik Mukti Morcha (Tarai Janatantrik Liberation Front) is campaigning for Independence    and as said there is now a threat of new armed revolt.  Regarding this on October 10, 2006 I have communicated through email to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Geneva (a copy of complaint with CD containing details) is attached.

We (Madheshi Community) are looking forward for the support of the Government of India in seeking the Human Rights of Madheshi people in Nepal to prevent further violence and establish peace in Nepal and in the region.

Sincerely yours

I HAVE READ YOUR MESSAGE. I WONDER WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF YOU SENDING ME SUCH A MESSAGE. AS IF I HAVE NO OTHER WORRIES IN MY LIFE. DO AS YOU PLEASE WITH YOUR COUNTRY NEPAL. I NEVER FELT AT HOME IN YOUR COUNTRY NEPAL, AT LEAST IN THE PRESENT NEPAL RULED BY THE REGIME OF THOSE CORRUPT THUG AND IRRESPONSIBLE RASCLES SUCH AS GYNANDRA BAHADUR SHAR-GIRIJA KOIRALA AND THEIR ALLIES. THE MOST, I AM MANY OF MY FRIENDS AND RELATIVES ARE TREATED AS ALIENS THERE IN NEPAL BY THOSE WHO RULE IT, OTHERWISE WE ARE REGARED AS DOGS BY THOSE CORRUPT TYRRANT AND DESPOTS WHO HAVE BEEN RULING IT FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS. THE SHAH-KOIRALA REGIME IS NOT ANY BETTER IN THIS REGARD. THERE IS A SAYING IN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND IT PHRASES OUT ” ODIN KHUI” MEANING IT HARDLY MATTERS TO US WHETHER IT IS GYNANDRA BAHADUR SHAH OR IT IS GIRIJHA KOIRALA, IT IS ALL THE SAME, BOTH ARE TYRRANICAL DESPOTIC RASCLES ON THEIR OWN WAY, BOTH ARE CORRUPT AND IRRESPONSIBLE THUGS. IT DOES NOT IMPLY THAT BIRENDRA BAHADUR SHAH, HIS FATHER MAHENDRA BAHADUR SHAH AND HIS GRAND FATHER TRIBHUWAN BAHADUR SHAH WERE ANY BETTER. THEY WERE EQUALLY DESPOTIC AND IRRESPONSIBLE RASCLES.

NOW, IN CASE IF YOU HAVE SENT ME THIS MESSAGE TO PROVOKE ME THEN HERE IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY.
FIRSTLY, HARDLY I HAVE ANY INTEREST ON THE CURRENT NEPAL OF THE CORRUPT IRRESPONSIBLE UNJUST KOIRALA-SHAH REGIME AND THEIR ALLIES. I CARE LITTLE ABOUT ITS FUTURE. HOWEVER, MY ONLY WISH IS TO SEE IT AND ITS PEOPLE MORE PROSPORUS IN TERMS OF STANDARD OF LIVING, SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS, TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS AND SOCIAL STATUS IN THE WORLD.
I CARE A LITTLE WHO RULE IT AS LONG AS ITS CITIZENS ENJOY JUSTICE, EQUALITY, FREEDOM, LIBERTY AND ECONOMIC SUPERIORITY WITH HIGHER INCOME. IN OTHER WORDS, I WILL BE HAPPY IF ITS PEOPLE LIVE A BETTER AND PROSPEROUS LIFE UNDER A JUST, DEMOCRATIC AND LIBERAL REGIME.
AT THE SAME TIME I HAVE A MESSAGE FOR THOSE NEPALI WHO ARE OPEN MINDED AND RATIONAL. AFTER ALL IF ECONOMIC AND TECHNICAL ACHIVEMENTS, HIGHER STANDARD OF LIVING AND BETTER LIFE IS WHAT EVERYONE IS LOOKING FOR THEN WHY LIMIT YOURSELF TO INDIA ALONE IN TERMS OF SHADING THE NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE AND SOVERIGENEITY. THE IDEA OF INTEGRATING NEPAL INTO INDIA IS A WOTHWHILE VIEWPOINT, WHICH CERTAINLY DESERVE CLOSE SCRUNITY. HOWEVER, IN MY CROOKED VIEW IT SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED TO INDIA ALONE. IN THIS REGARDS CHINA NEEDS TO BE CONSIDER WITH EQUAL WEIGHT AND GRAVITY. ALSO, NEPALI SHOULD FEEL FREE TO LOOK FOR OTHER AND BETTER OPTIONS.
AFTER ALL INTEGRATING IT TO CHINA MAY OFFER MORE INCENTIVES AND BENEFITS THAN INTEGRATING IT TO INDIA. JUST IMAGINE BEING A PART OF CHINA AS OPPOSED TO INDIA. PERSONALLY , I WOULD CERTAINLY OPT FOR CHINA THAN INDIA. I AM IN LOVE WITH CHINESE PEOPLE, ITS HISTORY, ITS CULTURE AND ITS SOCIAL, THE MORAL AND ETHICAL VALUES OF CHINESE SOCIETY ARE MORE CLOSE TO MY HEART THAN INDIANS. MOREOVER I LOVE AND ADMIRE THE HONESTY AND HARD WORKING HABIT OF CHINESE. MY CHINESE STUDENTS WERE ALWAYS GOOD AND HARD WORKING AS OPPOSED TO MY INDIAN STIDENTS. THE SAME GOES TO MY CHINESE MENTOR DURING MY PH D WHOM I FOUND VERY CONSIDERATE AND FRIENDLY AS OPPOSED TO INDIANS WITH WHOM I HAD WORKED FOR SOMETIME. I FOUND INDIANS AND PAKISTANI DOMINATING, TRICKEY AND LAZY MOST OF THE TIME.
aLSO, THERE IS A BETTER OPTIONS THAN THE PROPOSED INTEGRATION INTO EITHER INDIA OR CHINA. FOR EXAMPLE, LEASING THE COUNTRY TO THE US OR JAPAN FOR A PERIOD OF HUNDRED YEARS UNDER CERTAIN DEFINED TERMS AND CONDITIONS. THE NEXT IS TO TENDER IT INTERNATIONALLY FOR MERGER OR ACQUIZATION. NEPAL AND ITS PEOPLE WOULD CERTAINLY BE BETTER OFF IF IT IS ACQUIRED BY NATIONS LIKE JAPAN OR THE US.
AS FAR AS ACQUISATION AND INTEGRATION IS CONCERNED THE COUNTRY WILL BE BETTER OF EVEN IF IT IS TAKEN OVER BY FINLAND, SWEDEN OR NORWAY. IN ANY CASE MERGER TO INDIA IS CERTAINLY NOT A GOOD AND ONLY ONE OPTION. INDIA STILL REMAIN A DESPOTIC UNJUST UNDEMOCRATIC AND MISERABLE NATION DESPITE ALL THOSE BIG TALKS ABOUT IT.

NEXT, I CAN PROPOSE ANOTHER OPTION WHICH INVOILVES HELDING A REFERENDUM IN WHICH THE CITIZENS OF NEPAL ARE TO CHOOSE WHETHER THEY WANT TO BE INTEGRATED INTO INDIA, CHINA, ANY DEVELOPED NATION OR LIKE TO REMAIN AS AN INDEPENDENT NATION. IN THIS REGARD, I ASSUME THAT THE MADHESI PEOPLE WOULD CERTAINLY VOTE FOR INDIA AND I SUGGEST THAT THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO SO GIVEN INDIANA RETURNS DAARJEELING, SIKKIM AND UTTARANCHAL TO NEPAL UNDER SIMILAR BALLOT.

THE REALITY IS THAT NOT EVERYONE IS IN NEPAL IS OPEN TO THIS DISCUSSION. TO MANY THIS MESSAGE CAN BE SHOCKING AND PROVOCATING. IN ANY CASE, THERE IS YET ANOTHER ISSUE THAT NEED ADDRESS BEFORE TENDEING NEPAL’S SOVEREGENEITY TO INDIAN. IT IS A FACT THAT NOT EVERYONE IN THE PRESENT NEPAL MAY OPT FOR INDIAN CITIZENSHIP AND THIS FACT CANNOT BE IGNORED. FOR EXAMPLE, THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH MONGOLOID FACE AND YELLOW SKIN WHO MIGHT BE BEETER OF WITH CHINA THAN WITH INDIA, AND WHO MAY OPT FOR INTEGRATION OF NEPAL INTO CHINA. IN THIS CASE THE PRESENT TERRITORY OF NEPAL NEEDS TO BE DIVIDED INTO INDIAN AND CHINA.

ALSO, FROM NOW AND ONWARD, FOR OBVIOUS REASON, THE TARAI WHERE THOSE MADHESI PEOPLE LIVE SHALL ALWAYS GOING TO BE A PROBLEM FOR THE INTEGRITY AND SOVERENEITY OF NEPAL. MADHESI AND PAHDI PEOPLE ARE QUITE DIFFERENT PEOPLE IN TERMS OF TEMPERAMENT, VALUES, THE WAY PEOPLE LIVE AND THINGS ARE DONE IN SOCIETY, PROMPTING TENSION BETWEEN THESE TWO COMMUNITIES. SINCE MADHESI HAVE STARTED SHOWING UP THEIR TEMPER BY CHALLANGING THE REGIME AT KATHMANDU, NEPAL SHALL NEVER REMAIN THE SAME UNITED NATION AS IT HAVE BEEN FOR THE PAST 50 YEARS PLUS. FROM NOW AND ON WARD, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE MADASHI AND PAHADI WILL SHARE A NEIGHBOURHOOD WITHOUT TRUST AND CONFIDENT FOR EACH OTHER, MUCH IN THE SAME WAY AS IT IS IN JAFFNA IN SRI LANKA. SO BEFORE PROBLEMS GROW WROST FROM BAD IT IS BETTER TARAI WHERE MADHESI LIVE BE SWAPPED WITH DARJEELING, SIKKIM AND UTTARANCHAL WHERE MAJORITY OF NEPALI LIVE. AT ANY RATE IT IS TIME THAT KATHMANDU APPROCHED NEW DELHI WITH THIS ISSUES IN AGENDA. IT IS THE BEST BARGEN AND A SOLUTION A SOVEREIGN NEPAL CAN EVER HOPE FOR IN TERMS OF AVOIDING ETHNIC CONFLICTS BETWEEN PAHADI AND MADHASI.

NOW, TO THOSE WHO THING NEPAL HAD BEEN AN INDEPENDENT NATION I HAVE EQUALLY BAD MESSAGE. NEPAL NEVER HAD BEEN AN INDEPENDENT NATION SINCE ITS FOUNDATION. THE FACT IS THAT THROUGH OUT ITS HISTORY NEPAL WAS NEVER A FREE AND INDEPENDENT COUNTRY. IT WAS WORST THAN A COLONY, IT WAS A PROTECTORATE OF BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY AND WHOEVER HAVE BEEN THE RULER AT KATHMANDU HE/SHE HAD BEEN THE BLESSING OF BRITISH. HAD NOT HE BEEN BLESHED BY THE BRITISH RESIDENT IN CULCUTTA HE WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BE A RULER AT KATHMANDU. THE SAME GOES TO TRIBHUWAN, HAD HE NOT BEEN BLESHED BY NEW DELHI NEPAL WOULD HAVE BEEN A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC NATION SOME 50 YEARS AGO. I AM BRINGING THIS INTO LIGHT BECAUSE I FOUND YOU PEOPLE MISGUIDED BY THE HISTORY OF NEPAL FABRICATED BY SHAR-RANA REGIME.
NOW, AS FAR AS INDIA IS CONCERNED I HAVE FOUND SOME OF THE INDIANS SO NEIVE AS MOST NEPALI ARE. INDIAN NEVER WAS A UNITED NATION BEFORE BRITISH DID THE UNIFICATION JOB FOR THEM. SO BRINGING A HISTORICAL INDIA TO LIGHT IS EQUIVALENT TO FABRICATING AND FEEDING THE NEWS OF ITS ADVANCEMENT IN ELECTRONIC AND NEUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY TO THOSE POOR INDIANS. INDIAN NEUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY DOES NOT EVEN MATCH TO THAT OF 60 YEARS OLD NEUCLER TECHNOLOGY OF RUSSIA AND THE US. ITS ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY AT BEST MATCH FRIST GENERATION OF ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY. WITHITS TALENTS AND MONEY IT HAS NOT EVEN BEEN ABLE TO DESIGN A MOTORCYCLE AND CAR ENGINE. THEY BUY IT FROM JAPAN.
AMONG THE BILLIONS THE BEST PEOPLE INDIA PRODUCED of whom it can bost are Chandrashakar Subramaiam, Meghnath Shah, Satyndra Bose, and Khurana. VS Naipaul was born in Trinidad.

    Hello B Abbott ,

I read your narrow minded article to attach Nepal with Chinese, India is trying to solve the problem next our country with out a blood shed and we have been brought the government and Maoist to table and brought peace to your country. And without even saying thankful to our nation for this effort you want to sell your country for a no human right nation like China. They have been trading weapons for Maoist and they would sell more to make money than having good relation with India. Geographically Nepal is attached with Indian than China and Chinese did not help Nepal when you had troubles. If you personally dont like India dont eat Indian food, dont think about Indians and their achievements. Probably you must have studied in India for your selfish growth and now attacking our country. Because some chinese guys are friendly to you it does not mean you can sell your own country and people to them. If you like china better get a chinese passport and settle down some where in Beijing, dont try to sell the whole Nepal to them for your own benefit.

    Regards,
    SouthIndian or Madarsee

    Indian,
What help you guys have provided us (to Nepal) ? You guys are more source of prople than solution to Nepal. I know india is one of the fastest economy in the world but that does not apply to Bihar and UP which are borded with Nepal. Due to the open boarded lots of Biharis enter the country and it is them who are now demanding of different Nation. It is one thing to talk about rights but it not acceptable when someone demands of separate nation. Who are these people ? what rights they have for making such demands? THey are nothing but puppets backed by some indian groups.

And more over it is our internal issue. we don’t want you to get into this. You better fix your own problems. And remember India has never been solution to problem in south asia. You guys have created problems in sri lanka, bhutan, bangladesh, maldives, nepal.

If you guys think it is not justic to supress the Madhesi movement then tell me what you guys are doing with Nagaland issue ??

    Bindeshwar ji,
Thanks for updating people about the situation that has evolved in Nepal.

Dont worry about Abbot-like hypocrites. See how he feels about Nepal and about India? People like him wouldn’t give a penny. See how he talks about ‘acquisition’? On one hand he says India is an ‘undemocratic’, ‘despotic’ country, he has no problem praising the ‘culture’ of communist China. No problem if people have absolutely no human rights or freedom of opinion. He says ‘India’ has never been a single Nation, and Nepal has never been ‘independent’. Please at least hear something new and fresh. Isn’t the same crap that we have been hearing for last 100 years? Dont worry about such idiots. (and he teaches it seems!)

  • 5. kunal  |  September 5, 2007 at 7:12 am

SEE IF INDIA PLAYS ANY ROLE IN DIVIDING OUR COUNTRY NEPAL THEN INDIANS TOO HAVE THEIR HANDFUL OF PROBLEMS AND THE AFTERMATH OF NEPALS MISERY WILL CREATE ANOTHER PLAYGROUND FOR MORE MISERIES OF INDIA…YOU ALL CANNOT EVEN THINK OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN…INDIANS SHOULD REMEMBER THEY ARE DOGS AND DOGS WORK IS TO EAT ROTI LIKE THEY ATE BEFORE OF THE BRITISH…YOU DOGS BROUGHT THIS PAIN TO US…WE WONT LEAVE YOU HAPPY…INDIANS WILL SUFFER…YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE…SEE WHAT YOU HAVE AROUND?? SRI LANKANS HATE INDIANS FOR WHAT THEY DID TO THEM…PAKISTAN ..CHINA….BANGLADESH…BHUTAN WILL REVOLT SOME DAY AND INDIANS YOU CHEATED ON US NEPALESE AND SOME DAY YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY PRICE FOR WHAT YOU DID TO NEPAL….WAIT FOR THAT DAY WHEN IT WILL BE YOUR TURN TO TAKE THE PAIN…I HOPE INDIA WILL BE WIPED OUT FROM THE MAP OF THE WORLD FOR WHAT THEY DID TO US….LONG LIVE NEPAL

    Hi,

We Indians are not interested in under developed country like nepal. I feel the all Nepalis from india should be deported back to nepal. Indian and nepali border must be sealed and india should stop providing any aid in any form to nepal.

India is a second fastest growing economy in the world. It is third largest economy.India is progressing in all spheres of life.
Because of refugees from nepal and bangladesh, you can feel Bombay is becoming a dirty place.

India is a strong economically , is politically stable and has strong army. India has nothing to worry from nepal, pakistan bangladesh and srilanka.

  • 7. bimal  |  November 25, 2007 at 9:47 am

india does not need nepal but not sure if nepal needs india as i see some hints in this forum. if neplese of kathmandu valley are that arrogant as is being seen here why not seal the border with india? do not say or do anything about india. madheshis mostly speak maithili. you stupids do not know that language existed in madhesh since 2000 years and madheshis are there since then or even before.

  • 8. aakash  |  February 23, 2008 at 6:13 pm

    @B Abbott ,
you have talked too much..dont thing china is so good, i am in china since last 8 years, if you dont have money, chinese will kick you out. if you dont believe, try it anytime.

hey cant we do our task ourself?

  • 11. Sadik  |  July 2, 2008 at 6:46 am

    I’m Sorry

Not for all but most of all!!!

Very bad to say is that !!!

Main problem in the world are Rapid growing people likely In china Han Chinese(community), In Indic Continent and Sub-continent these Biharis and bangalis due to their stuborn, unhuman, indiscipline system. These are the hardly improving community.

That is why now in East India and North India there is big problem created due to uneducated and unsystemitc leader and lower class of life style.

India would be partitioned if this kind of think is not consider in time.

This is true but fate. Education & Descipline is must.

    God Bless Us

  • 16. Subhash Thakur (USA)  |  April 11, 2010 at 1:58 am

    to mr THARUS:

For your kind information, please read the paper:
“Mitochondrial and Y-chromosome diversity of the Tharus : a reservoir of genetic variation”

CONCLUSION: Although remarkable quantitative and qualitative differences appear among the various population groups and also between sexes within the same group, many mitochondrial-DNA and Y-chromosome lineages are shared or derived from ancient Indian haplogroups, thus revealing a deep shared ancestry between Tharus and Indians

This paper clearly states although THARUS are malaria resistant they share ancestry with INDIANS. So Mr. Tharu what do you say now?

  • 17. Umesh  |  February 14, 2011 at 2:31 pm

    to mr Subhas Thakur (USA)

For your kind information, please read history.

India is only little more than 50 years old. Before that, no country existed with the name India. So, where did these ancient Indians surface from all of a sudden.

So, the only valid explanation is that the paper was referring to Kirats, who were the original inhabitants of the “Indian Subcontinent”. And yes, a strong historical link between Tharus and Kirats has already been espoused by many world renowned scholars.

By mentioning Indians, the paper wasn’t indicating the aryan/hindu that are the dominating population in India right now, who immigrated from Iran. Instead, by ancient Indians, it means Kirats who were the original race in the continent.
