Dear friends :

Dr. Mathura P. Shrestha, a so called human rights activist, had made  very objectionable, shameful and derogatory and racist remarks on Madheshi community concerning GAUR incidence  in his interview given to Kathmandu Post on March 26, 2007.  Intellectuals of Gaur are very much hurt by his interview. They got together and published a Press Release explaining their view point. Attached is a copy of the press release. Please go through it and send your reactions.  Thanks.

Vishwanath P. Agrawal
Professor of Biochemistry

    Mr. Vishwanath,

Perhaps, being a professor of biochemistry; you have asked to “send” our “reactions” to the report; here is what my “reaction” is to it:

    1. He seem to be too personal on his view explaining the situation in Gaur. His report ought have been only about that particular incident but not what is the “usual custom” in Gaur. I don’t recognize his personal views.

    2. On the postive side, he also seems to be genuine about the actual descriptions of the events that took place in Gaur.

In summary, his report sans his personal view is believeable to another human rights activist like me. I protect your right not to agree with me.

To investigate into the matter, I did some reseach in the case. I came to some other reports of the event. One of the report is done by INSEC. Please follow the link and “send” me your “reactions” as well.
